We are a charity run pre-school based in Dodleston Village Hall, we are surrounded by fields of cows and have a fantastic view of the Welsh Hills. We have a large hall and large outdoor area, and are strong advocators of learning through play and child led activities. Our children our curious, they are explorers, they ask questions and seek answers through their indoor and outdoor experiences alongside staff who know when to intervene to scaffold learning and when to stand back and let the children lead. Staff are trained to at least level 3 in childcare, other staff hold level 6 and are working towards level 7.
We are an inclusive setting and we would love to get to know you and your child so that we can meet their additional needs. We will strive to make reasonable adjustments for inclusion so that your child flourishes in our care. We operate a Keyworker system and run an effective communication system so that children are well known by all members of staff.
We have experience in identifying additional needs and of working with parents and agencies. We will help parents and carers to access service that they need. Dodleston Preschool has a trained SENCO and staff are happy to receive training in all areas of care and education. We endeavour to seek funding for 1:1 assistance where required.
We have excellent links with the local Primary School and will provide transition meetings for children with additional needs. We would seek to complete paperwork for Education and Health Care Plans.
The hall has parking for at least 4 cars right at its entrance, there is a further car park across the road. Access from both is flat although the kerb is not lowered on the road side of the additional car park. The entrance to the hall is flat and the doorways wide. There is an undercover porch area and a further entrance hall available to wait in.
There are two staircases leading to an upstairs kitchen and office area, the children do not access these areas. There is a lift for access to these areas for less able parents, carers and staff .
The toilets have a low level sink and one low level child’s size toilet. The sinks have room to fit a wheelchair underneath. In addition, there is a disabled toilet area with handrail and low level sink.
Double fire doors lead off the main hall to the outside area and onto concrete. We have a large concrete area and several grassed areas, a concrete circle allows access to most areas of the garden.
The main hall area is spacious with wide alleyways between tables and activities. Tables are a variety of heights and have the associated matching chairs.
